| I forgot where I got this photo. I think it's from Libera360. |
When I think of Daniel Fontannaz, I often think of a popular Korean saying- "Late-blooming flowers are more beautiful." Even his birthday being on the very last day of the year tells me so ;) Well, I may not be a 99-year-old grandma and equipped with all kinds of wisdom under her wrinkles, but I know that life is not a 100m race but rather a marathon. I also know that one of the tips to win a marathon is self-assurance and perseverance. What am I rambling exactly? I'm trying to say that Daniel is a late-blooming flower who has patiently waited his turn.
Daniel made his first appearance on New Dawn promo video in early 2008. I think he was about 12 at that time. Making your first appearance at the age of twelve is considerably late compare to most of Libera boys we know who join the group at much younger age. I honestly believe that there isn't significant advantage or disadvantage of when a boy joins Libera as long as he sincerely partakes in it. I'm only stating the fact that he joined later than most other people. Anyway, from 2009, Daniel has taken over the solo part in Stay With Me at the age of 13 for the first time, while his peers were experiencing inevitable voice changes. I still remember the silly conspiracy at the Korean Libera fan club about Daniel's birth year being misprinted on program books because he looked younger than his actual age lol.
This year, 14 year old Daniel has proven himself very strong with his solos in Panis Angelicus in the new album Peace and in Stay With Me in numerous concerts. He also really stood up as one of the spokespersons of Libera throughout this year, actively communicating his insights with the fans and the interviewers. I particularly loved watching Daniel singing because he has that delightful smile glowing on his face - you know how much I love that.
Well, tomorrow is December 31 and Daniel will turn 15. Happy birthday Daniel. I really enjoyed watching your performances in Libera this year and I cannot wait to see you in the new year too. Don't join the gangs in the back row yet! ;)
